Dong-Ill Shin

Dong-Ill Shin from South Korea discovered his love for the organ through the music of J.S.Bach. He was first noticed as a 10-year-old soloist in a Mozart piano concerto, but at 14 he began to take up the organ, studying first in Seoul, then in Lyon and Paris. He has won many international organ competitions, such as Chartres and St. Albans, and has now performed in prestigious festivals on every continent. After 10 years in the USA, he returned to his homeland in 2011 and is now organ professor at Yonsei University, Seoul. — Dong-Ill Shin aus Südkorea hat seine Liebe zur Orgel durch die Musik von J.S.Bach entdeckt. Zunächst war er als 10-jähriger Solist bei einem Mozart-Klavierkonzert aufgefallen, aber mit 14 fing er an, sich die Orgel zu erobern und studierte zunächst in Seoul, dann in Lyon und Paris. Er hat viele internationale Orgelwettbewerbe gewonnen, etwa in Chartres und St. Albans, und hat mittlerweile auf allen Kontinenten in renommierten Festivals konzertiert. Nach 10 Jahren in den USA ging er 2011 in seine Heimat zurück und ist jetzt Orgelprofessor an der Yonsei University, Seoul.
