This Prom promises to show everything the 9,999-pipe instrument can do. The concert journeys from supersized Bach and Edwin Lemare’s spectacular arrangement of Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture to the eccentricity of Charles Ives and the peaceful rapture of Scott’s own arrangement of Cécilie Chaminade’s Autumn. Another highlight is the organist’s own arrangements of Tchaikovsky’s ‘1812’ Overture.

2. Lukas Hasler at MMMH

3. Charles Andrews at Temple Church
Charles Andrews is Liturgical Organist of the Temple Church and professor of organ and Organ co-ordinator at the Royal College of Music in London. At this final lunchtime recital of the summer term, he will showcase the organ installed by Harrison & Harrison in 1954.

4. Anton Heiller & Franz Falter play Franz Schmidt
The weekly programme Orgel City Vienna on radio klassik Stephansdom features two distinguished Austrian organists – Anton Heiller and Franz Falter – showcasing music by the Austrian composer Franz Schmidt. Music to include his Chaconne in C-sharp minor and Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major.

5. Leo Abbott at Prince of Peace
Leo Abbott has been Music Director and Organist of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston for 33 years. Performing on the magnificent Casavant organ at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, which is one of the five churches of the Prince of Peace Parish, Abbott will play pieces by Saint-Saëns, Karg-Elert and Vierne.

1. Jonathan Scott bei BBC Proms
Dieser Prom verspricht, alles zu zeigen, wozu das 9.999 Pfeifen umfassende Instrument fähig ist. Das Konzert reicht von Bach in Übergröße und Edwin Lemares spektakulärer Bearbeitung von Wagners Tannhäuser-Ouvertüre über die Exzentrik von Charles Ives bis hin zur friedlichen Entrücktheit von Scotts eigener Bearbeitung von Cécilie Chaminades Autumn. Ein weiterer Höhepunkt ist das eigene Arrangement des Organisten von Tschaikowskys Ouvertüre „1812“.

Leo Abbott ist seit 33 Jahren Musikdirektor und Organist an der Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. Abbott spielt Werke von Saint-Saëns, Karg-Elert und Vierne auf der prächtigen Casavant-Orgel in der Basilika St. Peter und Paul, die eine der fünf Kirchen der Pfarrei Prince of Peace ist.
