Wanamaker Organist and renowned silent film accompanist Peter Richard Conte gives a fully improvised performance featuring the German film Metropolis, a chilling art-deco fantasia directed by Fritz Lang in 1927 with cinematography by Karl Freund. Using the vast tonal resources of Northrop’s historic Aeolian-Skinner Opus 892 pipe organ, Conte “interprets the music with a driving expressionist approach ala Lang” (CultureVulture) that promises a “mixture of levity and technical brilliance” (The Birmingham News).
