1. Christa Rakich at Washington National Cathedral

Join Christa Rakich, Visiting Professor of Organ at Oberlin College & Conservatory, in celebrating President’s Day with an afternoon of music that commemorates the history of the United States. The Cathedral’s Great Organ was built by the Ernest M. Skinner & Son Organ Company and installed in 1938. With its 10,647 pipes, the organ is one of the largest in the world.

2. Stephen Price at Ball State University

The Sursa Family Concert Pipe Organ, one of Indiana’s only concert hall organs, is a 63-stop pipe organ built in 2006 by Goulding & Wood Co. The concert, as part of the Faculty Artist Series, promises to be an exciting performance not to be missed. Stephen Price, Assistant Teaching Professor at the BSU, will begin the evening with Buxtehude’s Passacaglia in D minor, followed by works by George Walker, Brahms, Franck und Mozart. Two impromptus by Coleridge-Taylor will open the second half, which will culminate in Karg-Elert’s monumental Passacaglia & Fugue on BACH.

3. Thomas Ospital at Saint-Eustache

Home to one of the largest organs in the country, St. Eustache is where the prominent Jean Guillou was Titular Organist and where composers such as Berlioz and Liszt chose to premiere their works. Join the current Titular Organist Thomas Ospital for an evening of works by Boëllmann, Daquin und Pierre Pincemaille.

4. Joy-Leilani Garbutt at St Matthew’s Cathedral

This recital features five distinguished French female composers of the last century. Playing on the magnificent French Romantic Great Organ built by Lively-Fulcher, Joy-Leilani Garbutt (Director of Music at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, San Francisco) performs music to include Boulanger, Chaminade, Boulay, Demessieux and Bonis.

5. John Sherer at Fourth Presbyterian Church

Having received a DMA from The Julliard School, John Sherer has been organist at the Fourth Presbyterian Church since 1996. Playing on the only five-manual symphonic organ in Chicago, Sherer presents a diverse programme including, among others, Thiman, Titcomb, Lubeck, Howells, which leads up to the grand finale – the well-loved Carillon of Westminster by Vierne.

Feiern Sie mit Christa Rakich, Gastprofessorin für Orgel am Oberlin College & Conservatory, den President’s Day mit einem Nachmittag voller Musik, die an die Geschichte der Vereinigten Staaten erinnert. Die Große Orgel der Kathedrale wurde von der Ernest M. Skinner & Son Organ Company gebaut und 1938 installiert. Mit ihren 10.647 Pfeifen ist die Orgel eine der größten der Welt.

Die Sursa Family Concert Pipe Organ, eine der einzigen Konzertsaalorgeln in Indiana, ist eine Orgel mit 63 Registern, die 2006 von Goulding & Wood Co. gebaut wurde. Das Konzert, das Teil der Faculty Artist Series ist, verspricht eine spannende Aufführung zu werden, die man nicht verpassen sollte. Stephen Price, Assistenzprofessor an der BSU, eröffnet den Abend mit Buxtehudes Passacaglia in d-Moll, gefolgt von Werken von George Walker, Brahms, Franck und Mozart. Zwei Impromptus von Coleridge-Taylor eröffnen die zweite Hälfte, die in Karg-Elerts monumentaler Passacaglia & Fuge über BACH gipfeln wird.
