This year marks the 31st International Organ Festival in the “Italian Capital of Culture” – Bergamo and Brescia. Once again, the festival features musicians of the highest profile and charisma. The sumptuous inauguration at the Cathedral is entrusted to Olivier Latry, one of the most distinguished organists in the world today. The music lineup includes, among others, works by Guilmant, Liszt, Saint-Saëns, Bach and improvisation with a Symphonic Triptique on themes given by the audience.

The following concert takes place at the historical site of Sant’Alessandro della Croce in Pignolo. Simone Vebber, one of Italy’s finest improvisers, presents a diverse programme with a special focus on Padre Davide da Bergamo, whose 160th death anniversary is commemorated.

Mona Rozdestvenskyte, recent winner of the St Albans Competition, performs the third concert in Bergamo at the Grazie Church in Porta Nuova. Her programme highlights music by Thierry Escaich, Akira Nishimura and the visionary György Ligeti, in honour of the centenary of his birth.

Jonathan Oldengarm, Minister of Music of the home church presents the first organ concert at the Fall Series of Thursday Noon at Met. This performance on Canada’s largest church organ, boasting 8333 pipes, promises a vibrant musical journey. The programme sees the opera house come to the organ with Wagner transcriptions by Lemare and Liszt. Favourites from Meistersinger, Tristan, Tannhäuser and more.
