Roger Sayer, former Organist and Director of Music at Temple Church, is one of the most prominent figures in the British choral and organ music scene. This week’s programme, performed in the thirteenth-century chapel at Merton College, includes Mendelssohn, Gigout, Bossi, Vierne and Jongen.

2. Carson Cooman at Washington National Cathedral

Guest organist Carson Cooman, composer in Residence and Research Associate in Music at the Memorial Church of Harvard University, plays at the Memorial Day recital, celebrating the resilience and fortitude of the US armed services.

3. Tom Bell at Blackburn Cathedral

Having established a vibrant portfolio as a performer, teacher and animateur, Tom Bell brings with him Messiaen’s Messe de la Pentecôte to this special recital at Blackburn. Alongside Messiaen’s music, his other principal preoccupation at present is 19th-century English performance practice.

4. Happy 147th Birthday!

The Cathedral of the Holy Cross celebrates 147 years since the dedication of its principal organ. To support this fundraising concert, several of New England’s notable organists will perform a variety of works on the historic organ of 5,298 pipes. Music to include Bach, Reger, Rheinberger, Franck, Jongen, Barnekow and Mushel.

5. Simon Williams at Cheltenham College

The Lunchtime Live organ recitals at Cheltenham College are held on the first Tuesday of every month. This month features Simon Williams, Royal College of Organists Regional Director and Organist at Cheltenham Ladies’ College. He will play music by J.S. Bach and Kelly.

4. Alles Gute zum 147. Geburtstag!

Die Cathedral of the Holy Cross feiert 147 Jahre seit der Einweihung ihrer Hauptorgel. Zur Unterstützung dieses Benefizkonzerts werden mehrere namhafte Organisten aus Neuengland verschiedene Werke auf der historischen Orgel mit 5 298 Pfeifen spielen.
